Interim Director of Fundraising
Location: Remote-working during covid restrictions, and NW5, London
Contract: Interim, open to flexible working. Starting August 2021. Circa 12 month contract (maternity cover)
Salary: Circa £80,000 pro-rata
War Child UK, the only specialist charity helping children affected by war, is seeking an Interim Director of Fundraising and Communications for a maternity cover contract.
War Child helps children in conflict and delivers high-impact programmes that are rebuilding lives across Afghanistan, Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Iraq and Yemen; some of the most challenging conflict affected countries in the world, where violence and displacement have created severe difficulties for children.
The role will drive progress in raising funds and in maximising long-term sustainability, both unrestricted and restricted, from all fundraising sources, with the exception of governmental and institutional funders. The Director of Fundraising and Communications includes responsibility for the highest level of relationships with the charity’s ambassadors and major donors, trusts, foundations and corporate partners in a department that is renowned in the sector for its innovative fundraising strategies and campaigns. It is also accountable for the implementation of a newly establish regular giving programme, as well as all of the public communications activity.
War Child UK is looking for candidates with a demonstrable track record of fundraising success, with proven ability in fundraising strategy development and implementation, and significant experience in a senior leadership role. You will also have experience of developing and implementing a wide range of innovative fundraising programmes, including setting up and running successful individual donor recruitment campaigns.
Finally, you will be a self-starter with the ability to motivate and manage a successful team with, ideally, an understanding of international development issues.
