Ovarian Cancer Action
Director of Fundraising
Location: Home based initially, then flexible work considered for London office.
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Salary: £70-75,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Ovarian Cancer Action is seeking a Director of Fundraising to deliver and grow a multi-million pound fundraising portfolio to generate the funds for vital research that brings them closer to making ovarian cancer a survivable disease.
Other cancers such as breast cancer had better survival rates two generations ago than ovarian cancer does today; it is the UK’s deadliest gynaecological disease, yet over 90% of women can’t name the four main symptoms. With five-year survival rates at just 43%, the charity has a big job to do to make a real difference for women today and generations to come.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, this role will lead and inspire the strategic, financial and operational management of the charity’s fundraising function to significantly increase income in line with agreed targets across all channels and income streams. As part of the Leadership Team you will also develop and guide the strategic direction of Ovarian Cancer Action, ensuring they achieve their organisational goals and performance targets.
The charity is seeking candidates who can drive innovation and fundraising excellence, making data-driven decisions to support growth. The role will involve developing the organisation’s fundraising portfolio, devising and delivering a cross organisational donor-acquisition strategy and playing a lead role in cultivating and stewarding significant donor relationships.
The successful candidate will have experience and a successful track record in growing income streams and meeting ambitious income targets across a wide range of fundraising areas. They will also have experience of working at a senior level in a role which requires an organisation-wide, cross-functional strategic perspective on issues, challenges and opportunities. Finally, they will need to be commercially astute with strong influencing skills to inspire and empower their team.
