AAW Global – Providing a Unique Consultancy Service
20th November by Imogen Ward
AAW Global is the international consulting arm of AAW. It is a ‘virtual’ based team focused on providing strategic support to major INGOs and international not-for-profits. Its five geographically disbursed team members - Matthew, Sergio, Celina, Lorena and Khanya - are all alumni of the Said Business School. They work with Tobin, Imogen and Richard on a variety of projects around the world. In 2020 alone this team has supported projects in the Middle East, North Africa, South America and South East Asia.
AAW Global is the brainchild of Matthew Morgan who responded to an ad we placed seeking a new consultant to join our team back in 2019.
Here we share a little about the ‘team of 5’ and the type of projects they’ve delivered on behalf of AAW Global. If you would like to find out more about how AAW Global can help your organisation, please contact email@example.com
AAW Global Team Origins
After nearly 8 years spent working in business strategy, corporate finance, and investment management across Asia (South Korea and Japan), Matthew was seeking to pivot into international development consulting with an entrepreneurial edge. He had specifically decided to attend the University of Oxford’s MBA programme given the emphasis on stakeholder capitalism and social impact, as framed through the lens of global cross-cutting issues such as demographic shifts, natural resource scarcity, and technological challenges.
The Oxford MBA attracts students from around the world (60+ nationalities) who seek to make a positive difference in their communities and abroad, as enshrined in Oxford Saïd Business School’s vision: “We aspire to be a world-class business school community, embedded in this world-class University, tackling world-scale problems.” One month prior to graduating in August 2019, Matthew came across a posting from AAW that resonated strongly with his post-MBA direction.
In Matthew’s own words: “I was often recognized as a connector during the MBA degree, and I tried to carry this mindset into the workplace. It quickly became apparent that classmates would be invaluable to the success of projects in specific countries such as Romania, Egypt, and Uruguay. As a result of both business needs and the desire to involve peers, we have brought on nearly ten members from the Oxford MBA community across several cohorts.” Joining Matthew with AAW Global, Sergio Navarro in particular has played a key role in developing our capabilities for delivery in the finance and healthcare space, and Celina Chan has been instrumental in talent recruitment and management.
